Adding Pictures and Links to Your Blog
Adding links to your wordpress blog is easy. Just highlight the words you want linked, and click the ‘chain’ icon in the toolbox above your text. If you move your cursor over the chain it tells you “Insert/edit link”.
Enter a web address in the ‘Link URL’ box, and click ‘Insert‘
Job done – except not quite!
IMPORTANT – Make sure you change the ‘Target‘ to “open link in a new window”, otherwise when visitors click the link, they will leave your blog – Not a good idea! Also you have a choice of where the link page appears. I always change the ‘class’ to ‘align centre’ but that is just personal preference.
When you have changed these 3 items, click the ‘insert’ button. Then check the links by clicking the ‘Preview‘ button (at the top of the right-hand side of your wordpress dashboard), in the ‘Publish’ section.
Adding pictures to your blog is also easy.
First, make sure you have the jpeg picture file on your computer hard-drive. If the file is too big, you may have to reduce it’s memory size in ‘Photoshop‘.
Click in the text where you want your photo; then click the ‘Picture’ icon (next to Upload/insert). Hover your cursor over it and you get “Add an image“. Click Browse to find the jpeg picture file on your computer. Double-click the jpeg file and the picture downloads automatically to your blog.
Now click on the picture in your text editing screen. You have a choice of two icons ‘Edit Image’ or ‘Delete Image’. In the edit image screen you can choose the picture alignment ; None – Left – Centre – Right. Also you can adjust the size from 100% down to 60%. If you want the picture to have a link, enter the web address in the Link URL box. When you are happy with your adjustments click update.
Finally, don’t forget to go back into picture edit, and click Advanced Settings at the top. At the bottom of the screen you need to tick Target – Open link in a new window. Then update and you are finished. Happy blogging.

Glad to be of help Andrew. I'm luckier than most, being semi-retired I have time to fiddle about and discover how things work. Best wishes.JohnHi John, thanks for this. I never have added pics in my blog posts but might have a go.
