I’m a Drug Addict & Don’t Want to be Cured
Last night I got another fix and I’m only just coming off the high. Unfortunately I only get one rush per week now. When I was younger I got high two or three times a week, now the pleasure is becoming rarer. Still, when it happens it feels great and I want to share it with you, and encourage you to take the same drug. It’s perfectly legal, perfectly natural and perfectly wonderful.
The drug is called endorphine. It is naturally produced by the body during intensive aerobic exercise. The drug has evolutionary purpose. Endorphins are related to the morphine family of drugs, and are produced by the body when you exercise at 95% – 100% of maximum effort. Running at that speed is very uncomfortable so the body produces endorphins which is a natural pain killer.
Your body also recognises that exercise is very healthy and life enhancing, so it rewards you, encouraging you to continue. Endorphins directly stimulates the pleasure centres of the brain. When you stop exercising you get Runners High, a feeling of euphoria and general well being that lasts for up to 24 hours.
Are there any reasons at all why you don’t run? Eat and drink as much as you like, never worry about putting on weight, feel healthier, live longer and get a high! – Join a runners club now, you know it makes sense!

Hi John –
Sounds wonderful; reasons I don’t run? big boobs and a recurring (unlinked!) back problem!
Happy for you!

Susan,Sorry to hear about your back problem. Your laughter system for getting endorphines sounds better anyway:O)

Hi John,
You make a compelling case for running, maybe I’ll give it a try. The dog will enjoy it anyway, even if I don’t!
Enjoy the journey.

Mandy,Your dog will love it,
and you will - eventually :O)

John,
Great post, it got my attention! What a great reason to get away from our computers now and then. I love to hear about people who are staying fit and healthy. I live in the USA. Need I say more?
Enjoy reading your insights.
Ann
Ann,Thanks for the comment. I was hoping the title would
gain some attention! I think I know what you mean about
living in the USA, but still it's your life, and it's
in your hands :O)
Good luck with the Mastercourse.
