Screen Capture for Blog Posts

When trying to explain a computer procedure, screen capture is very useful. If you have Photoshop it is also very easy! Just follow these steps:

1) When you have the required image, or page, showing on your computer screen, press the Print Screen button once.Print Screen Key

2) Open up Photoshop and go into File – New. Change the Resolution to 600 otherwise the picture quality will not be very good.Resolution 600 3) Once your new file page is open go to Edit, then Paste, and your captured screen image is now on the page.Edit-Paste

4) Crop and edit the image as required, then save as a JPEG file to your desktop.

5) Go to your Wordpress blog. Place the cursor where you want the screen capture to appear in your post, then click Add an Image:Add Image

Your screen capture picture is now in your blog. If you need more, just repeat the same procedure. Hope this helps all you Photoshop users, who may not have been aware of this handy feature.

Happy Blogging.

  1. Hi John, I tried your technique and it worked like a charm. Thanks much.
Thanks for telling me Steve. I thought maybe everyone with Photoshop knew about this, but I'm now glad I wrote the post. :-) John

  2. Hi John…
I don’t have photoshop but for those that do…this is great info. I love doing screenshots. I use Snag-it for mine. I think it adds so much to a post when you can help someone visualize it with a screenshot.
    Great info.

Kathy, I agree with you about screen capture. I was looking for a programme like Snag-It, until I stumbled upon the fact that Photoshop does it. Thanks for visiting. John
