Tags Boost Traffic for WordPress Blogs
WordPress has been formatted to be SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) friendly, but you could still give it a helping hand if you want to maximise your traffic.
Every time you write a post make sure you also add Tags. I have only recently started doing this, and have noticed an immediate increase in visitors.
When writing your blog post, look on the right hand side and you will see a section ‘Post Tags’, just add the words that are unique to your post.
(1) Enter your Tag. Single words, also 2,3 & 4 word phrases. Enter the words that most define your post, and are the words most likely to be searched for by people looking for the information contained in your article. The easiest way to do this is to enter the Tags when you are actually writing the blog post. That way the relevant words and phrases are still fresh in your mind.
You can enter a whole list of your tags in one go, but you must separate each tag with a comma. Alternatively you can also enter one keyword at a time and click ‘Add’, for each entry.
(2)Once you are satisfied with your list just click ’Add‘ and your post is now keyword optimised both for search engines, and web 2.0 sites such as Twitter, Squidoo, Technorati and Hubpages.
Well done. Now just sit back and watch your traffic figures zoom. Make sure you are using a Spam filter such as Akismet because you will get an increase in both good and bad traffic. Using Tags I have received a comment on my blog within 2 hours of posting! Happy Blogging.

Wow, this is so useful, John, thank you so much! I did not know that but will now start to do it with every blog post.
Enjoy the journey.

I was the same Mandy. I kept expecting Tags to happen automatically. When nothing happened I thought I had better look into it.
