The Greatest Band (or Brand?) in the World
Pink Floyd have had three completely different singer/songwriter leaders, and still kept their fans, becoming a worldwide phenomenon.
Coca Cola is often regarded as an extremely powerful brand, yet when they changed the formula to their drink, the public reacted against this and they swiftly reverted back to the original recipe.
Pink Floyd however have had three different musical incarnations and despite this actually became more and more popular. Does this make Pink Floyd a more powerful brand than Coca Cola? Certainly the groups fans seem to be more loyal than Coca Cola’s customers.
1) Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd (1965 – 1968)
2) Roger Water’s Pink Floyd (1969 – 1985)
3) David Gilmour’s Pink Floyd (1986 – 1996)
Three different musical styles, but one huge loyal fan-base, makes Pink Floyd – The most Powerful Brand in the World.

Hello,
Not sure that this is true:), but thanks for a post.
Definitely just a matter of opinion, but I wanted to post some Pink Floyd videos!

Thanks, John. Your posts are always interesting and informative. (I see you still have your arrows!)
Enjoy the journey.

Thanks for reminding me Mandy. I have finally found out how to get rid of those pesky arrows - and it's really easy!
Shall describe how on another post. (Here it is):< How to Delete Annoying Arrows on Blog Links.>John[Reply]
Pink Floyd is really a phenomena of the last 40 years. His music is smth unpredictable and perfect. gilmour’s solos are the best solos i have ever heard.
Hard to argue with this Serge, although Gilmour plays his guitar a little TOO perfectly for me! (I prefer a sound with a bit more 'edge'). You're right about Pink Floyd though.

This group’s work is marked using philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative album art, and elaborate live shows. I’m also became an avid fan of them, and their music was so memorable for me.

I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd perform ‘The Wall’ at Earls Court, London in 1981. Your right Andy, their live shows were certainly elaborate – that was the best show I have ever seen.
It was so good, I have paid a lot of money to see Roger Waters perform it again at the 02 Arena next year.
I don’t play The wall too much, because I think you have to listen to the whole double album in one go. I play Atom Heart Mother and the first album a lot though. Good to hear from another Floyd fan Andy.
