Videos, DVD’s, MP3 and CD’s
I’m a simple person. When I buy a DVD I expect to watch it on a DVD Player. Similarly I will put a CD disk into a CD player and expect to hear something. Unfortunately this will not happen with some products I might buy on the Internet.
I am preparing 20 Internet Marketing video courses for resale, and have seen some of these advertised as DVDs. They are not DVDs, the videos can only be viewed on a computer. I have also seen audio courses advertised as CD’s. They are not CD’s either, they are MP3 files for which you need a computer or MP3 player.
As I said I’m a simple person, and just writing about all these formats has confused me! So how do I describe these Video courses? They are not DVDs and they are not CD’s either. My solution is to call them a CD ROM Video Course. To me that means a disk that can only be played on a computer.
Maybe I’m being pedantic, or describing a problem that doesn’t exist for anyone else? But if you have computer videos for sale, my suggestion to avoid confusion, is to call them a CD ROM Video. Hope this helps.

Hi John,
I have been confused myself in the past, and you are right, it can be quite misleading if you think you got a DVD in your hands only to find out that the thing will only play on the computer – I do think it’s a matter on how the CD/DVD was burned, and I am pretty sure that there is a way around so it can be played on ALL devices. This might be a good forum question or one for Daniel (we need to keep him on his toes
)
Anyway, thank you for making me think about the whole thing again ..

Hello Svenja, good to hear from you again. I didn't realise that it may be possible to play CD's/DVD's on any device. If Daniel does know how, it will solve a lot of problems. In the meantime I will stick with my 'CD ROM Video' description. Thanks for keeping in touch.John
